Toll Tax Will Start From Tomorrow For Banihal-Qazigund Tunnel

Toll tax will start from tomorrow for crossing Banihal-Qazigund tunnel: Jammu Kashmir.

Toll tax of Rs 130 will have to be paid for crossing the Banihal-Qazigund tunnel.

Motorists will have to pay toll tax for crossing the newly constructed Banihal-Qazigund tunnel between the hills of Pir Panjal on the Srinagar-Jammu National Highway.

From August 21, vehicles will have to pay a one-way toll tax of Rs 65 to 840 depending on their size, usage, and registration.

Significantly, the Banihal-Qazigund tunnel has been prepared as an alternative to the Jawahar tunnel located in the Banihal pass.

The restoration of this tunnel will not only save one-and-a-half hours in travel time between Jammu and Srinagar but will also reduce the travel time by 16 km.

The eight-and-a-half-kilometer-long tunnel is built exactly 400 meters below the existing Jawahar Tunnel at Banihal Pass. It is one of the longest vehicular tunnels in the country.

This tunnel, very important from the strategic point of view, will make the Srinagar-Jammu National Highway evergreen.

The National Highways Development Authority has issued a notification deciding to levy toll tax from August 21 on four-wheelers and above and heavy vehicles using the Banihal-Qazigund Highway Tunnel.

This is the cost of vehicles toll: National Highway Development Authority regional officer Rohin Gupta said that a car, jeep, van, or LMV has to pay a toll of Rs 130 for a one-way journey.

If the vehicle concerned returns within 24 hours, it will have to pay a toll of Rs 195.

Minibus, LCV, or LGV vehicles will have to pay toll tax of Rs 210 for a one-way journey and Rs. 315 for the return journey in 24 hours.

Rs. 440 for one-way journey in bus or truck and Rs. 660 for return within 24 hours.

Three axle commercial vehicles will have to pay a toll of Rs 480 for a one-way journey and Rs 720 for return within 24 hours.

Four to six-axle vehicles will have to pay a toll of Rs 690 one-way and Rs 1035 if they return within 24 hours. A toll fee of Rs 840 will be charged for a one-way journey for seven or more axle vehicles.

Toll collection centers have been set up at Lumbar in Ramban and Ujru in the Anantnag district.

Vehicles returning within 24 hours will have to pay a two-way toll simultaneously. If he pays separately, then he has to deposit toll on a one-way rate basis both times.

A monthly pass will also be made: If the drivers want, they can get the facility of a monthly travel pass. This pass will cost Rs 4325 to Rs 27945.

Commercial vehicles registered in Ramban and Anantnag will have to pay a toll ranging from Rs 65 to Rs 420 for passing through the Banihal-Qazigund tunnel, depending on their model and capacity.

If this vehicle is having a national permit, then it will have the same toll tax as other vehicles.
