Transit Residential Facility For Displaced Kashmiri Pandits

Transit residential facility at 17 places for displaced Kashmiri personnel in Kashmir, instructions to prepare DPR in so many days.

Advisor to LG Baseer Ahmed Khan on Wednesday directed to prepare the DPRs in seven days for the proposed transit housing facilities for displaced Kashmiri personnel at 17 places in the Kashmir Valley.

He said that every transit residential facility should have drinking water, road, electricity, water, monitoring tower, boundary wall, community hall, and shopping complex.

It is noteworthy that in 2008, for the rehabilitation of displaced Kashmiris in the Kashmir Valley, the then Central Government has announced the Prime Minister’s Special Employment Package.

Under this, six thousand vacancies were declared in various government departments. Out of these, about 3841 posts have been appointed and the recruitment process is going on for the rest.

Transit housing facilities are being prepared for displaced Kashmiri Pandits who have got jobs under the special employment package in 10 districts of the valley.

Under the Prime Minister’s Development Program and the Prime Minister’s Reconstruction Program.

Some such facilities have been prepared in the past as well. Now once again transit residential facilities are to be constructed at 17 places in all the 10 districts of the plaintiff.

Advisor to Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, Basir Ahmed Khan took stock of the activities related to the construction of a transit residential facility at the Civil Secretariat here today at a high-level meeting.

In this, Secretary, Disaster Management-Relief and Rehabilitation Department, Development Commissioner PWD, and other concerned administrative officers participated.

Baseer Ahmed Khan asked the Secretary of, Disaster Management, Relief, and Rehabilitation Department to expedite the construction of the transit housing facility.

If there is any blockage at any place, it should be removed immediately by coordinating with the concerned administrative officers.

He directed the officers of Jal Shakti, Electricity, Road and Building Construction, and other related departments to prepare DPRs in coordination with the concerned departments for the transit housing facility to be constructed at the proposed 17 places.

Along with this, he was also directed to complete all the work related to the transit facility under construction at Bandama Ganderbal by September 15.

It is noteworthy that Lt Governor Manoj Sinha has issued an order to build 2744 flats for Kashmiri Pandit personnel at a cost of Rs 356 crore and has also identified land for them.
