Uefa Champions League: Manchester City In Finals

Uefa Champions League: Maharez handed Manchester City a ticket to the finals.

Manchester City made it to the UEFA Champions League final for the first time by defeating last year’s runners-up Paris St German (PSG) 2–0 in the second leg of the semi-finals thanks to two goals from Riyadh Mahrez.

City won the first leg 2–1 and thus manager Pep Guardiola’s team City won on a total score of 4–1. Mahrez scored two goals in the second-leg match.

PSG star player Angel Maria was shown a red card in the 69th minute, forcing the team to play the remaining 10 players.

Neymar’s poor performance: City players continued to play aggressively from the very beginning, while the PSG strikers struggled to score goals and could not deliver the ball to the goal post.

Neymar, the world’s most expensive footballer, disappointed PSG and failed to score a single goal. Apart from this, the chances of scoring goals were also not redeemed.

Maria had to go off the field and young striker Kylian Mbappe did not play in the match due to injury which weakened PSG’s attack.

Maharez Shine: Maharez played a key role in bringing City to the finals. He also scored 1–1 in the first leg match to give City a 2–1 win after scoring a goal. Now in the second phase, he got the team a ticket to the finals on his own.

Maharaj’s counter attack: PSG got a penalty in the seventh minute and had a chance to score but this penalty was ruled out with the help of Video Assistant Review (WAR).

Midfielder Mahrez continued his attack from the very beginning. The team got the advantage in the 11th minute when Mahrez scored a goal to give City a 1-0 lead.

He made no mistake in getting the ball to the goal post with his right foot from near the goalkeeper box. The city was 1-0 ahead in the first half.

The city continued to flourish in the second half as well. Fodon sent the ball like a goalkeeper’s box to Mahrez, who led the team to a 2–0 lead with a ball from the left foot into the goal post.

Six minutes later, PSG’s Maria got the red card with the help of Var and the team had to play the remaining matches with 10 players. Both teams failed to score again and City won the match.

The final of the Champions League to be held in Istanbul on 29 May is likely to be between the two England teams. For this, Chelsea will have to defeat Real Madrid. The first leg match between the two teams was at 1–1.
