Under-19 Cricket World Cup: England beat South Africa, became the first team to reach the semi-finals.

Jacob Bethel’s scintillating performance with the bat helped England beat South Africa by six wickets in the ICC Under-19 World Cup to reach the semi-finals of the Super League.

Bethel scored 88 runs. Batting first, South Africa was bundled out for 209 runs. England will now have to play either Sri Lanka or Afghanistan in the semi-finals.

South Africa got off to a slow start after winning the toss and electing to bat. The first boundary came off the last ball of the fourth over before Joshua Biden dismissed Valentine Kittime on the next ball.

Biden took his 12th wicket of the tournament by dismissing the second opener, Ethan-John Cunningham, and South Africa was reduced to 21 for two.

Dewald Brevis and Gerhardus Marie added 55 runs.

After this Bethel sent Mary to the pavilion. Brevis scored more than 50 runs in the fourth consecutive match. He got out on 97.

After this, the South African team lost three wickets within one run. Batsmen threw wickets in search of boundaries.

Rehan Ahmed took four wickets for 48 runs. Matthew Bost and Asakhe Tsaka added 40 runs for the final wicket to take South Africa’s score to 209.

Bethel batted brilliantly for England, scoring the fourth-fastest fifty in ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup history. He scored fifty in just 20 balls.

The team’s score crossed 100 in 10 overs. South Africa finally got the wicket of Bethel. He strengthened England’s grip in the match by scoring 88 runs in 42 balls.

William Luxton, who came to bat at number five, scored 47 runs in 41 balls. He took England to the semi-finals with a six.

Rovman Powell and Nicholas Pooran’s scintillating performances with the bat and then brilliance from the bowlers helped West Indies beat England by 20 runs in the third T20I of the five-match series at the Kensington Oval here.

With this win, the hosts have taken a 2-1 lead in the five-match series. The fourth T20 match will be played on Saturday.
