CBI takes over investigation of Manipur Viral Video case, FIR alleges murder and gang rape.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has taken over the investigation of the Manipur Viral Video case. CBI  has registered an FIR in the matter under the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the IT Act.

This includes charges of murder, gang rape, and criminal assault. While visiting the relief camps, Manipur Governor Anusuiya Uikey assured that peace would soon be restored in the state.

A video purportedly shot on May 4, showing two women twerking in the nude, went viral earlier this month, resulting in a massive uproar across the country.

The CBI had already deployed its Special Investigation Team (SIT) under a DIG-rank officer in the state.
