More than 2,500 troops from the US, Australia, the Philippines, Timor-Leste, and Indonesia are actively participating in the exercise on the Tiwi Islands.

Initial reports about the accident in the local media said that the emergency services were informed about the helicopter crash at 9:43 a.m. local time this morning.

During this, the maximum attention remains on ensuring the safety of the victims of the accident.

The Australian Broadcast Company (ABC) did not report any casualties, although Sky News cited sources as saying that some soldiers were still missing.

According to ABC’s report, several marines were rescued from the crash site.
