Yasin Malik Convicted In Terror Funding Case

Yasin Malik was convicted of terror funding, now there will be a debate on punishment on May 25.

Separatist leader Yasin Malik, who funded terrorism, and separatist activities in Kashmir, has been convicted by the NIA court.

Malik is facing serious charges like carrying out terrorism and separatist activities in Kashmir in 2017. Yasin Malik has accepted the charges against him in most of the cases.

It is believed that Malik could be sentenced to life imprisonment. However, the debate will be started on May 25 to decide the term of Yasin Malik’s sentence.

Special Judge Praveen Singh will hear the arguments of lawyers regarding the quantum of punishment for all the offenses leveled against separatist leader Yasin Malik.

All the evidence gathered against Yasin Malik was presented in the special court of NIA in Delhi on Thursday.

During this, the court also sought an affidavit from Yasin Malik regarding the details of his assets. Not only this, but the court also directed the NIA to submit a report related to the assets of Yasin Malik.

With this, the judge announced to fix May 25 as the next date of hearing for the arguments on the sentence.

Let us tell you that earlier the separatist leader had accepted all the charges leveled against him under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA).

Malik was charged under UAPA under sections 16 (terrorist act), 17 (raising funds for the terrorist act), 18 (conspiracy to commit terrorist act), 20 (being a member of a terrorist gang or organization), and 120-B (criminal conspiracy).

He was charged under section 124-A (sedition) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). Yasin reportedly did not contest the charges before the court.

Charges have also been filed against Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) founder Hafiz Saeed and Hizbul Mujahideen chief Syed Salahuddin in the charge sheet prepared by the NIA.

Apart from this, Yasin Malik, Shabbir Shah, Masarat Alam, former MLA Rashid Engineer, businessman Zahoor Ahmed Shah Watali, Bitta Karate, Aftab Ahmed Shah, Avtar Ahmed Shah, Naeem Khan, Bashir Ahmed Bhat alias Peer Saifullah and others have also been made accused.

There is also an allegation of murder of Air Force officers:

Apart from terror funding, Yasin Malik, the head of the Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front, is also facing the case of killing five Air Force officers 30 years ago.

TADA Court Jammu has framed charges against Yasin Malik and seven others under TADA Act and Arms Act.

Apart from Yasin, the court has framed charges against Ali Muhammad Mir, Manzoor Ahmed Sofi alias Mustafa, Javed Ahmed Mir alias Nalka, Nana Ji alias Salim, Javed Ahmed Zargar, and Shaukat Ahmed Bakshi in the case.

Let us tell you that on January 25, 1990, at 7.30 am in Rawalpora, Air Force officers were standing at the Sanat Nagar crossing waiting for the vehicle.

Suddenly the terrorists opened indiscriminate fire on them. In this, 40 Air Force officers including a woman were seriously injured.

While three officers became martyrs on the spot. Two others had died later. After this, the then government handed over the investigation of the case to the CBI.

Former Home Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed’s daughter Rubia Saeed was kidnapped:

Yasin Malik, along with terrorists, kidnapped Rubia Saeed, daughter of the then Home Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, on December 8, 1989, to free five dreaded terrorists lodged in various jails of the country.

At that time the government had to face a lot of criticism.

was the Home Minister in the VP Singh government. Javed Mir of JKLF claimed responsibility for the kidnapping.

The five terrorists who were released instead of leaving the daughter are Abdul Hamid Sheikh, Ghulam Nabi Bhat, Javed Ahmed Zargar, Noor Mohammad Kalwal, and Altaf Butt.

About one and a half months after this incident, on 25 January 1990, Yasin Malik and other JKLF terrorists fired indiscriminately on the Air Force personnel in Srinagar. Four died in this, while 40 others were injured.
