1700 Policemen Martyred In Last 30 Years: Jammu and Kashmir

1700 policemen martyred in Jammu and Kashmir in the last 30 years, 500 PSOs included in martyrs: Terrorism in Kashmir.

Over 1700 policemen of the Jammu and Kashmir Police were martyred in Kashmir during the last 30 years protecting the leaders of various political parties.

These include 508 Private Security Officers (PSOs). Leaders of political parties, PSOs posted with ministers may not be equipped with modern weapons but their job schedule has been fixed.

Their responsibility is to protect the protected person. Be it at home or at any political event. They always fall prey to terrorist attacks.

A police officer said that the terrorist attack on the PDP leader was not a security lapse. The number of terrorists is reported to be close to two to three.

Militants opened indiscriminate fire on PSO Manzoor Ahmed as soon as they entered the house. He was stationed at the entrance of PDP leader Haji Parvez Ahmed.

He received several bullets. He was rushed to the hospital in an injured condition but succumbed to injuries. The second PSO responded to the firing of the terrorists but the terrorists managed to escape.

Similarly, on October 6, PSO Altaf Ahmed, who was posted under the protection of BJP leader Ghulam Qadir in the Central Ganderbal district of central Kashmir, was also killed by terrorists in the same manner.

However, a terrorist was also killed in retaliation by Altaf. BJP leaders narrowly survived the attack.

Last July 9, in Bandipore, North Kashmir district, the terrorists attacked the BJP youth leader Wasim Bari in a similar manner and killed his brother and father. 10 PSOs were deployed with Bari.

All PSOs were suspended by the department after this attack.

On the condition of anonymity, a PSO posted in Kashmir said that his life is so difficult that he has to think twice. One always has to be alert while making dinner, lunch, or breakfast.

The danger always hovers over our heads. Our job is full of risks. You do not know when and where we are attacked. But it is our duty. We will fulfill our duty even by dying.

At the same time, a police officer said that the risk of terrorist attacks on PSOs running with political leaders, candidates have increased in the District Development Council elections.

In view of this, the Police Department has decided that soon in-house security advisory will be issued to PSOs across Kashmir.

At the same time, after paying tribute to the martyr PSO Manjoor on Monday, DGP Dilbag Singh made a statement that the purpose of these terror attacks is to disrupt the District Development Council elections.

He had also claimed that which terrorist organization is behind this attack, which terrorists were involved in it, all information has been obtained. Soon they will be captured or shot down.
