India needs to develop ‘deterrent capability’. Former National Security Advisor of the country said – If China has to stop, India should develop ‘deterrent capability.’
India needs to develop deterrence if it wants to stop China’s antics on the Line of Actual Control (LAC) and curb the Chinese attempt to change the border by infiltrating.
This was said by former National Security Advisor and strategic affairs expert Shivshankar Menon.
In an online discussion organized by the Indian Women’s Press Corps, Menon said, “Nothing is going to happen by making noise and forging international alliances.”
These efforts will not stop China’s actions. India must strengthen itself to stop China, which makes the neighboring country feel that it will not be able to change the situation on the border.
Menon said that in any way, passing a resolution condemning infiltration in the United Nations will not do anything. The situation on the ground will remain the same.
If we want to maintain the status quo on LAC, then we have to strengthen our deterrence. It should be something that India showed in the Pangong Lake area in August.
On reaching the high altitude of India, the attitude of China became loose and it retreated from the southern edge of Pangong.
Menon said, “The relationship between India and China needs to be seen in a broader form.” If we talk about peace and stability, then we have to look at the relationship as a whole.
Then we have to look at the facts of 2020. How then would we ignore the fact that China is our biggest trade partner.
How can you forget the boom that the business has made in the first quarter of the current year? Even if it is due to the influx of raw materials of medical equipment and medicines at an increased price from China.
The former National Security Advisor said, the problem arises where you start manipulating the issues. We start lying in order to serve the political interests inside the country.
On the basis of the wrong facts, it says – it happened and it did not happen. Then you forget the ground reality and from here you start becoming weak. Difficult situations begin to form.
