UN ceasefire Antonio Guterres has also welcomed the ceasefire. His spokesman, Stephan Dujarik, issued a statement saying that the Secretary-General welcomed the agreement on a humanitarian relief ceasefire.

He has also commended Russia for the mediation efforts made for this agreement.

The sound of shelling in Nagorno-Karabakh has finally stopped since Saturday afternoon after Russia’s intervention. Citizens living here have also breathed a sigh of relief.

Significantly, a war broke out between the two countries on 27 September in the Nagorno-Karabakh region. The region falls under Azerbaijan but is controlled by local Armenian forces.

The war that broke out between these two is said to be the most fierce war in the last 16 years. In this area, there is a long history of conflict between the two, in which thousands of people have lost their lives so far.

After the declaration of a ceasefire from Russia’s intervention, the Foreign Ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan issued a statement saying that this war has caused soldiers casualties on both sides and some have also died.

Many soldiers have also been taken captive by each other’s armies. The purpose of this ceasefire is to exchange prisoners and take dead bodies. In their statement, these foreign ministers also said that at present, agreement on other things will be formed after further talks.

Russia’s President Vladimir Putin played an important role in the conclusion of the truce between the two countries.

After he said that Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov held 10-hour marathon talks between the foreign ministers of the two countries to fulfill this objective, after which this ceasefire took place.

After the talks, he said that some further solutions will also come out of the talks going forward. The Russian Foreign Minister gave information about the agreement between the two countries and also read his statement to journalists.

Armenia was prepared for a cease-fire since the latest conflict, while Azerbaijan stated that this would be possible only if Armenia’s force Nagorno retreated from Karabakh.

Russia has a security agreement with Armenia. Apart from this, Russia also has good relations with Azerbaijan. If this ceasefire continues, it will prove to be Russia’s big diplomatic move.

According to the Nagorno-Karabakh army, 404 personnel have been killed in it since the beginning of the conflict. Azerbaijan has not reported its military losses. Hundreds of ordinary citizens on both sides have also died during this period.

After the ceasefire came into force, Armenia’s army accused Azerbaijan of violating the ceasefire, saying that Azerbaijan’s forces shelled the area near its town of Kapan in which a civilian was killed.

However, Azerbaijan has rejected these allegations. In contrast, Azerbaijan’s military accused Armenia of attacking missiles in its territory and Adgam areas, which was rejected by Armenia’s Ministry of Defense.
