Coimbatore Car Blast Case: NIA raids Coimbatore car blast, searches 45 locations including Chennai.

NIA team is conducting raids in Tamil Nadu on Thursday for terror funding in Tamil Nadu’s Coimbatore car blast case.

The NIA team is conducting searches at 45 locations including the capital Chennai. These include 21 hideouts located in Coimbatore.

NIA officials, along with the state police, started raids on the suspects’ hideouts in areas like Kottamedu, Ponvizha Nagar, Rathinpuri, and Ukkad in the early hours of Thursday.

Jamesha Mubeen died in a car blast.

Significantly, on October 23, an LPG cylinder blast took place in a car in front of the Sangameshwar temple.

A 25-year-old man, Jamesha Mubeen, was killed in the blast.

According to the police, Mubeen, an engineering graduate, was questioned by NIA officials in 2019 in connection with the alleged terror links. He is named as the main accused in the case.

Explosives were recovered from Mubeen’s house.

In the car blast case, the police had seized material used to make explosives from Mubeen’s house in the case. The police had seized 75 kg of potassium nitrate, charcoal, aluminum powder, and sulfur.

NIA is investigating the case.

The central probe agency had registered the case 15 days ago after an order of inquiry was issued by the Counter Terrorism and Counter Radicalization (CTCR) Division of the Ministry of Home Affairs.

The order from the Ministry of Home Affairs was issued a day after the state CM MK Stalin recommended the investigation of the case to the NIA.

UAPA imposed on the accused.

Tamil Nadu Police has so far arrested more than 6 people in the case. The Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) has been imposed on the accused.

The arrested accused are believed to be associates of Jamisha Mubeen. Mohammad Thalka, Mohammad Asruddin, Muhammad Riaz, Firoz Ismail, Mohammad Nawaz Ismail, and Afsar Khan.

Afsar Khan is the cousin of the deceased Mubeen. The officer was arrested by the SIT two days before the blast.
