Srinagar: Water stream of Bringi river flowing into ‘Patal’, geologist engaged in research

The water flow of the Bringi river flowing in South Kashmir’s Anantnag has suddenly stopped. Its water is getting absorbed in ‘earth’.

The reason for this is not the end of the source of the river, but the formation of a deep pit (sinkhole) in which all the water is getting absorbed.

A large number of trout fish have also died due to the drying up of about 20 km of the river. The fisheries department has set up a trout center near it.

People are gathering to see the pit. Along with imposing Section 144 in the area, the administration has also advised media persons to stay away.

The administration has expressed the apprehension of submergence of land in the area around the river. Whereas geologists are engaged in research.
