MRSAM: Successful Test Of A Ground-To-Air Missile

MRSAM: Successful test of a ground-to-air missile, will simultaneously hit many enemies in the air.

India on Wednesday successfully test-fired a ground-to-air medium-range powerful missile (MRSM) from Chandipur in Odisha.

Equipped with a number of specialized capabilities, this missile is capable of shooting down any missile, fighter aircraft, helicopters, drones, surveillance planes, and airborne enemies within a radius of 70 km.

Not only this, by rotating 360 degrees, this missile can simultaneously attack many airborne enemies under its purview. The missile was successfully tested by a naval ship on 17 May 2019.

Eight villages were evacuated for testing

The destructive capability of the missile can be gauged from the fact that for its testing.

The administration had sent 10,000 people from eight villages of four panchayats to temporary camps near the testing center of Chandipur so that no one could be harmed.

Despite the immediate problems, all these people had a sense of pride in the fact that they are becoming witnesses of this special opportunity to increase the strategic power of their country.

The test is done like this

To test it from Chandipur’s launching pad LC-1, a missile called Bansi was flown into the air, which the MRSAM missile, with precise aiming, blasted in an instant.

A team of senior officials and scientists associated with the Defense Research and Development Organization DRDO and Interim Testing Council ITR were present on the occasion of the test.

The missile was successfully tested by the Indian Navy a few months ago. With this, the Indian Navy joined the countries which have this unique capability.

MRSAM missile developed by DRDL, DRDO in collaboration with Israel

The missile has been jointly developed by DRDL Hyderabad and DRDO in collaboration with the Israeli aerospace industry. MRSAM is manufactured at Bharat Dynamics Limited.

The central government began exploring the site for the development of the military missile test range around 1980. Work on the Agni missile was then underway.

Meanwhile, the Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) developed the Proof and Experiment Establishment (PXE) facility at Chandipur in Baleshwar district in Odisha.

In 1986, the Government of India decided to develop a National Test Range near Baliyapal in Baleshwar district itself.

However, the decision was postponed in 1995, and construction of the launch complex 4 started on Abdul Kalam Island near Chandipur’s launch complex-3.

They were named as Integrated Test Range (ITR). All the modern facilities for the testing and evaluation of missiles are available here.

It is also favorable according to the climate. So far, Prithvi and Agni series ballistic missiles, Akash and Trishul missiles, anti-tank missile snake, etc. have been tested.
