On Thursday, the 78th day of the war, Russian forces launched strikes in Kharkiv, Chernihiv, and the Sumy region. Fierce fighting continued in the Donbas (Donetsk and Luhansk).

Meanwhile, a war crime trial has begun against Sergeant Vadin Shishmarin (21) of the Russian Army in Ukraine. Vadin is accused of shooting a 62-year-old cyclist Ukrainian national.

UN to investigate human rights situation worsened by Russian military conflict in Ukraine.

The UN Human Rights Council on Thursday voted to increase surveillance of the deteriorating human rights situation in Ukraine due to Russian aggression.

A draft resolution titled ‘Deterioration of the human rights situation in Ukraine due to Russian aggression was tabled at the 34th special session of the Human Rights Council.
