Shri Amarnath Yatra 2021: 14 officials sought for protection of devotees in Amarnath Yatra.

As soon as the date of the annual visit of Shri Amarnath is announced, administrative preparations have also started rapidly.

14 officers have been sought to maintain law and order and security in various camps and base camps for the devotees.

It will consist of officers of the rank of Deputy Inspector General (DIG), Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), and Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP).

The Home Department has asked the Police Headquarters to form a panel of officers who can be sent on a deputation basis to the Shri Amarnath Shrine Board (SASB). This process is to be completed by 15 April.

Let us tell you that Shri Amarnath Yatra, situated at an altitude of 3888 meters above sea level, will run from 28 June to 22 August.

Record devotees are expected to visit Baba Barfani. Maintaining the security and law and order situation in the pilgrims’ camps, major base camps during the yatra is a big challenge.

Niteshwar Kumar wrote to Home Department: SASB receives services of senior police officers every year on a deputation basis to improve travel arrangements.

SASB Chief Executive Officer Niteshwar Kumar wrote a letter to the Jammu and Kashmir Home Department on March 1, referring to various meetings of the concerned officials with Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and Chief Secretary BVR Subrahmanyam in connection with the visit.

In this, he told that from 2015 during the travel period, police officers are appointed as deputy directors of various camps.

Two officers of the rank of DIG and SSP have been appointed as directors of the major base camps at Nunavan and Baltal which handle law and order and security-related issues.

Last year, the police sent six DSP rank officers to SASB on deputation so that they could take over the responsibility of Deputy Director Camp. Last year the yatra was postponed under the Corona Protocol.

To be mentally and physically fit Officer: The Chief Executive Officer of the Board, Niteshwar Kumar, in his letter, has requested the Home Department to make available the Police Officers to the Board on a deputation basis, like the previous rains.

He sent a panel of Kashmir Police Service (KPS) officers from the Home Department to the Deputy Director of Camp and two officers of the rank of DIG and SSP, who are in charge of the Camp Director.

These officers should be mentally and physically healthy to handle the travel duty.

List sought by 24 March: Rashid Rana, Secretary, Home Department, while confirming the letter of the Chief Executive Officer of SSB said that we have informed the Police Headquarters.

The Police Headquarters asked for a list of qualified officers on March 24 so that we can tackle this entire process in time.
