Standing Committee on Defense reviewed security preparations in the Arabian Sea.

The sixteen-member Standing Committee on Defense, chaired by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Jual Oram, on Tuesday called on Goa to evaluate operational preparedness in the Arabian Sea, including coastal security. Naval visited the area.

The SCOD visit is part of an ‘on-the-spot’ study on the state of current operational preparedness in the Arabian Sea, including coastal security.

The delegation was briefed by the Flag Officer Commanding of the Western Naval Command on the preparations of the Indian Navy in the Goa Naval Region and the Arabian Sea.

Earlier on Wednesday, the committee visited Karwar Naval Base in Karnataka to see the development of Project Seabird. It also explained the modernization of the Karwar Naval Ship Repair Yard and the capabilities of the Indian Navy ship Vikramaditya.

During this time a demonstration was done to lift the ship in front of the standing committee. Along with this, the committee also visited the area of Naval Port to assess the marine infrastructure being developed under the Project Seabird phase.

Supreme court notice to the makers of Mirzapur web series and Amazon Prime Video

The Supreme Court has issued a notice to the creator of the Mirzapur web series and Amazon Prime Video on a petition.

The petition has questioned the content shown in the web series and accused it of showing a wrong image of the Mirzapur district of Uttar Pradesh.

The court has sought answers from the OTT platform and web series manufacturers regarding this. The petition said that the cultural value of Mirzapur is quite rich.

But in 2018 Excel Entertainment launched a web series of 9 episodes titled Mirzapur, in which they showed Mirzapur as a city with illegal activities, which tarnishes the image of the district.

The bench headed by Chief Justice SA Bobde issued notice to the Center, Excel Entertainment Pvt Ltd, and Amazon Prime Video after a brief hearing in the case.
