The government has declared an emergency for two weeks. Shops and markets remained closed in the capital after the murder.

Interim Prime Minister Claude Joseph stated that they were hired killers and were well trained.

The killers spoke English and Spanish, while French and Creole are spoken in Haiti. The incident has been strongly criticized by the United Nations Security Council.

US President Joe Biden and British Prime Minister Boris Johnson have already strongly condemned the killing, calling it barbaric.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed grief over the murder of Mousse and the attack on his wife Martini Mousse.

In a tweet in this regard on Thursday, he said that he was saddened by this incident and expressed his condolences to the family of President Mousse and the people of Haiti.
