The longest military operation against terrorists in 13 years, continues-Poonch Encounter.

The ongoing military operation against the terrorists in the forests of Poonch district continued for the 10th day on Wednesday. This is the longest operation in the district in the last 13 years so far.

Earlier, in the year 2008 in the Bhatadhar forest of Mendhar, the operation went on for about 15 days after the encounter between the army and the terrorists.

Four soldiers of the army were martyred in this, while no terrorist was killed.

Army and other security forces have put all their efforts to kill the terrorists hiding in the forests of Charade and Bhatdhulian of Poonch.

Surveillance is also being done from a helicopter along with the landing of para commandos. Due to the dense forest, the operation is taking time.

On Wednesday morning also, high officials of the army and police prepared a strategy. After this, the soldiers entered the forest spread over five kilometers.

According to sources, the jawans have reached half the forest, but so far neither the body of any terrorist has been recovered nor any clue has been found.

According to sources, the search of the entire forest will be completed by Thursday afternoon. At present, police and army officials are monitoring the entire operation.

Meanwhile, the Jammu-Poonch Highway from Bhimber Gali to Jada Wali Gali remained closed for the seventh day as a precautionary measure. Vehicles are being sent to Poonch via Mendhar.

Army Chief has also visited and issued instructions:

The seriousness of the operation can be gauged from the fact that recently, Army Chief MM Naravane has also visited the encounter site in Bhatadhulian and ordered the army officers to end the encounter by quickly eliminating the terrorists.

Fear of terrorists hiding in caves in the forest:

There have been many encounters in the Poonch district in the past, but in the last 13 years, this is being told as the longest operation ever.

The forest is very big and dense. It is feared that the terrorists have either built pucca bunkers inside the forest or are hiding in caves.

Apart from weapons, they may also have a large amount of food and drink. It is also feared that the terrorists may have fled, but the army has surrounded the entire area.

The army has also forbidden the surrounding people from going towards the forest. Police have also started interrogation by taking into custody some people living near the forest.

Even before this, the police had detained seven people including mother and son for questioning.

The operation went on for 20 days in the adjoining Rajouri district:

In Khaidi village of Rajouri district adjoining Poonch district, two years ago, the operation went on for about 20 days after an encounter with the army and terrorists,

But no terrorist was killed, two army personnel were martyred in the encounter.
