India Canada Row: Canada Has Not Given Any Evidence Till Date, Jaishankar’s Strong Counterattack

India Canada Row: Canada has not given any evidence till date, of Jaishankar’s strong counterattack on America’s statement.

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar said in the Rajya Sabha on Thursday that India has constituted an inquiry committee to investigate the information received from the US as it is a national security issue.

Just a few days ago, America had accused an Indian of being involved in the failed conspiracy to murder Sikh terrorist Gurpatwant Singh Pannu on its soil.

Along with this, Jaishankar told the Rajya Sabha that Canada’s allegations of possible involvement of Indian agents in the killing of Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar would not receive similar treatment, as no specific evidence or input was provided to India by Ottawa.

India Canada Row: The Foreign Minister said, as far as America is concerned, some information was provided to us by Washington under security cooperation.

This input was of concern to us, as it related to organized crime, trafficking, and other matters.

Jaishankar said that since these issues have a bearing on our national security, it has been decided to investigate the matter and an inquiry committee has been constituted.

Jaishankar made this comment when asked about the involvement of an Indian officer in the alleged attempt to assassinate Sikh terrorist Gurpatwant Singh Pannu.

He said the question of treating Canada similarly does not arise because it has not provided any evidence.
