IAF will soon get indigenous Tejas, to know the features of the fighter aircraft.

The Acquisition Council (DAC) headed by Defense Minister Rajnath Singh on Thursday approved defense projects worth Rs 2.23 lakh crore.

Under these projects, 97 light combat aircraft Tejas and 156 combat helicopters Prachanda will be purchased. Tejas is a light and multi-role fighter jet aircraft developed by India.

It is a multi-role light combat aircraft with one seat and one jet engine developed by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL). It is a tailless, compound delta-wing aircraft.

Through this purchase, a plan has been made to bridge the shortage of fighter squadrons in the Indian Air Force. The Air Force fleet will become stronger in the coming times.

IAF will soon get indigenous Tejas: This will further strengthen the indigenous aerospace sector in the direction of a ‘self-reliant India’.

According to reports, the first Tejas i.e. LCA MK-1 aircraft will be delivered in February 2024.

The remaining aircraft will be delivered by the year 2029. Tejas aircraft are expected to be deployed in the border area.

Prachanda helicopter has also been developed by HAL. This state-of-the-art light combat helicopter has twin engines weighing 5.8 tonnes.

Prachanda is capable of firing air-to-air and air-to-surface missiles. It will be deployed mainly in the higher reaches of Siachen, Ladakh, and Arunachal Pradesh.
