India-Myanmar Border: Meitei Welcomed Fencing On The India-Myanmar Border

India-Myanmar Border: Meitei welcomed fencing on the India-Myanmar border, but Kuki communities protested.

The Central government’s decision to erect a fence along the border has been strongly welcomed by the Meitei community of Manipur, while the Naga and Kuki communities have opposed it, saying it is not acceptable to them.

In a post on X, Home Minister Amit Shah said on Tuesday that the Narendra Modi-led central government is committed to making the borders impenetrable.

It has been decided to erect fencing along the entire 1643 km long border. A patrolling track will also be built on the border for better monitoring.
