Army’s Search Operation Against Infiltrators Continues In Uri

Army’s search operation against infiltrators continues in the Uri sector.

The search operation of the army against the infiltrators in North Kashmir’s Uri sector continued for the third consecutive day on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, the administration has restored mobile internet and phone services in various parts of Uri and Baramulla that were suspended on Monday.

In the early hours of Sunday, a group of terrorists armed with automatic weapons had attempted to infiltrate the area of Angoori Post in the Uri sector.

A jawan was injured in the encounter that followed. The terrorists had escaped under the cover of forest and rain.

Army officials said that special checkpoints have also been put in all major roads and drains leading from the Uri sector towards interior areas of Kashmir.

Army’s search operation against infiltrators continues: The entire area where the infiltration has taken place is under siege.

The army is also taking the help of its sniffer dogs. Suspicious elements and old guides of terrorists are also being monitored in the settlements located in forwarding areas of Uri.

Concerned military officials said that the search operation against the intruders continued for the third consecutive day.

The jawans also conducted searches in pastures besides some residential settlements located in forwarding areas.

In this operation, apart from the para commando squad of the army, sniffer dogs are also involved.

However, no fresh trace of the intruders has been found. Sources concerned said that the possibility of the infiltrators fleeing back to POK cannot be ruled out.

This is the second attempt by terrorists to infiltrate from POK along the LoC in North Kashmir after the ceasefire agreement on the LoC by the Pakistan Army in February this year.

Earlier in June, there was an infiltration along the LoC in Bandipora. The three infiltrating terrorists have been killed in separate encounters.
