Malegaon Blast Case: Hearing in Malegaon blast case adjourned till tomorrow. The hearing of the 2008 Malegaon blast case has been adjourned till January 5.

The accused in the case, MP Pragya Singh Thakur, and other accused were to appear in the Special NIA Court on Monday. Pragya’s lawyer, Advocate JP Mishra, also confirmed that she would appear in court.

BJP MP Pragya Singh Thakur wants exemption from daily appearance in court on the basis of health and safety. In this regard, the court has asked them to file an application.

The court says that whenever called, they will have to appear in the court.

It is to be noted that earlier on December 19, advocate JP Mishra had said that the National Investigation Agency (NIA) was delaying the trial in the 2008 Malegaon blast case.

Apart from Pragya Thakur, LT Col Purohit, Chaturvedi and Kulkarni, Ajay Rahirkar, retired Major Ramesh Upadhyay and Sudhakar Dwivedi are also accused in the case.

It is noteworthy that four of these seven accused had appeared before the court. On December 19, three accused including Sadhvi Pragya Thakur, Lt Col Prasad Purohit, and Sudhakar Chaturvedi did not appear in the NIA Special Court.

Pragya Singh was admitted to AIIMS due to health problems. Please tell that MP Pragya Singh has also been accused in this case, Pragya Singh Thakur and other accused have been ordered to appear in the trial court.

They have been charged under various sections of the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA), Explosive Substances Act, and the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

The charges include sections 16 (terrorist acts) and 18 (conspiracy to commit terrorist acts) UAPA and sections 120 (b) (criminal conspiracy), 302 (murder), 307 (attempt to murder).

324 (voluntarily injuring), and 153 (a) (promoting enmity between two religious groups) are also included.

Significantly, on September 29, 2008, six people were killed and more than 100 injured when a motorcycle exploded near a mosque in Malegaon, a city in north Maharashtra.
